On November 1, 2011, a Boeing 767 departed from Newark to Warsaw with 231 people on board.

Captain of flight PLL LOT 106 was Tadeusz Wrona. Shortly after take-off, the first signals of a failure appeared. An attempt was made to reach Warsaw. Despite following the procedure, it turned out that the landing gear did not extend.

Ultimately, the plane touched down on the runway, which was doused with firefighting foam. Thanks to the cooperation of the entire crew, no one was injured.
